January Part 2

This is what happens when Tanner is too tired to go out with his friends at night on the weekend. I think we got hit three times that week!
Talon was in a car accident a few weeks ago.  He blacked out while driving and ended up in a palm tree.  No one else was involved, just him and the tree.  Luckily it was in the parking lot to urgent care and he went right there.  Garry and I came and had his car towed and he was in urgent care from 1-8 that day (Saturday).  They did tons of tests and the only thing they could find questionable was low blood sugar.  They were trying to determine if it was a seizure and they couldn't find that it was.  So, bottom line is we still don't know what's wrong with him (he's still seeing dr.'s and the latest is a neurologist to rule out epilepsy).  He was banned from driving for two weeks  (His car still isn't fixed, so that wasn't so bad except us and his roommates had to get him everywhere).  Last Saturday they gave us a green light on the car, so Garry and I went and picked it up (down by the Galleria Mall) and drove home.  On the off ramp at Windmill and 215, the oil pressure light came on and the car died.  So I had to tow Garry back to our house and the fixer people came back last Tuesday and towed the car back to their place, so he's still carless as of today!!
A few weeks ago, we had a bout of cold weather.  So cold in fact, it froze our pool and jacuzzi.  You can see the thin layer of ice on the pool.  Just floating chunks really.
But the jacuzzi was frozen.  I couldn't break the ice with my hand.
Cynjyn threw his large rock on it and it cracked, but still held the rock.
By the time Taz would get home from school every day though, it was mostly melted.
He really wanted to try ice skating on the jacuzzi!
Cynjyn had fun wearing her 1D nails to school, they actually lasted a few days and the $.25 price tag was nice!
Tanner and his friends are helping Cody (second from left) answer yes to the girl who asked him to Sadies.
I ordered some vinyl and Cynjyn put a quote up in her room.  It's from the movie Peter Pan (live action).
She also chalked her hair one evening.  It's hard with dark hair, but I really liked it!
On MLK day, we went to Fiest buffet for lunch.  They have the best Mongolian bar and its fresh and yummy.  I only go there for that!

Tanner got asked to Sadies that night.  About 8:45, the doorbell rang and this bag was on the doorstep.
It was full of balloons that Tanner had to pop and inside each was a puzzle piece.  Taz helped him put it together then he was off to bed.

The clue sent him to Ashley's house.  I went with him to take pictures and for moral support.
Ashley's clue was to go to the daughter of an optometrist and so we were off to Miranda's.
She gave him a pack of toilet paper and a clue to go to the girl that hates getting TP'd.  We went to Madison's house.
She gave him a bottle of cleaner and the clue told him to go to the girl that can never go out becuase she has to clean.  Off to Emily's we went.
She gave him a bottle of tennis balls and told him to go to the girl who always plays tennis.  we ewnt to Katie's.
She met Tanner at the door with a shirt that said "Sadies?".  Tanner gave her a thumbs up and said YES!  Their date will be on the 16th of February.
One night Talon came over for dinner. Cynjyn was in a very giggly mood.  She started laughing at his birthmark in his hair.  She was really laughing hard and Talon thought she was crazy.  Pretty soon, she was on the floor laughing...Talon was seriously thinking she'd lost it.  Then she went to bed.  Talon says he's praying for all boys.  Girls are too crazy!!
Tanner is teaching three piano students.  They come on Thursday.  I had to get a random shot of that!
One day I was at Michaels and saw some cute yarn.  I bought it and whipped myself up a new scarf that afternoon.  I love how it turned out.  It's super long and goes with a lot of outfits.
One Saturday night, Taz got a call from one of his friends.  It was 9:30pm.  He was just about to go to bed.  (He likes to go to bed early and get up early).  She said she was bringing him a treat and could he wait up for her.  I didn't know any of this and he was huffing and puffing and moping around and so I told him to go to bed and he said he couldn't.  He was miserable waiting for the girls to show up.  They finally did about 10:15 and brought him these cute little cups.  He said thanks and shut the door and then immediatly ran off to bed.  The next day he investigated his treat...fruity pebble rice krispy treats on the bottom, white cake with cool whip frosting on the top.  He ended up enjoying it even though he's not a big dessert fan.
Cynjyn can finally change out her earrings.  She only had a couple of pair.  This was a mood mustache earring she wore for her first time.  We went to Claire's and stocked up for her, now she has many more to choose from.
I was feeling bohemian one day and wore my tie die shirt and hat and moccassins.  My kids were mortified.  I didn't care!
And finally, Talon and Cynjyn both ready for the Super bowl.  They got to wear their jersy's to work and school.

January part 1

This year I decided to bake a little more. I have decided to make a batch of cookies a month.  My  first batch was some sugar cookies.  It made a ton, so I divided it into thirds and cooked up a third and froze the other two doughs for later. Some of the family likes them frosted and some don't, so I did a little of both.
When we first moved in, we bought each of the kids paint to do their rooms.  Taz had been patiently waiting and decided during break to finally paint his room.  So, he and I spent a day painting.  He decided to do three out of four of his walls blue and leave one beige.  He is eventually going to put a vinyl saying on that wall.
He is a hard worker and he did all the ladder work.
We got some gift cards to Olive Garden and Outback during Christmas, so after NY's we decided to go to Olive Garden.  Just our luck, we got there and it was closed temporarily due to a fire that had broken out.  Luckily, Outback was across the street and so we decided to go there.  Apparently everyone else who had tried to go to OG had the same idea.  We ended up waiting 35 min. outside in the cold.  Taz didn't have a jacket, but the rest of us did.  I shared with him.  He'd brought his Kendama, so it was helping him stay warm.

Tanner decided on NY day to put together his raccoon puzzle he'd received for Christmas.  It is a hard one and we still aren't done with it.  (Today is Feb. 7th as I write this).

I had been eyeing some organizational bins at Sams and we decided to buy them over break.  We got three and put them in the family room.  We mixed some of the cubes with bins and some with decoration.  I love how it turned out and it goes well with our furniture and built in cabinets.
Cynjyn went on her first YW retreat.  They got a cabin at Mt. Charleston and went up for the night.  She borrowed Taz's scout bag.
They had a great time and got to play in the snow on Saturday.  Apparently, they were bored on the car ride home and wrote on each other.
She got some on her face too.  But she did have a great time.
Garry has been taking advantage of the cool, nice weather and started some yard work in the back yard.  It was/is a little jungle, and he has been pruning and pulling like crazy.  He has to do a little at a time, enough to fill the garbages and then start again after garbage day.

Over grown lantana!  Ugly and burdensome.
We found these cute little shrubs under it after we pulled it all out.
After we put the bins against the wall, Garry spray painted my ledges and put those up.  We are loving the decorating process and love it when things come together.

NERF and NY Eve

So, Taz rediscovered his NERF gun over Christmas break. We were enjoying a few weeks off before schol started again and he bought a new gun.
He also went to his first stake dance which just happnened to be the NYE dance.
Tanner has been on the stake youth committee this past school year and so he had to help with the dance.  He, Krista and Amanda were in charge of making the zodiac animals as part of the decorations.

They turned out cute and he had fun at the dance.  He did have to stay and help clean up.  Taz found a ride home, Cynjyn was at Alexa's for the night and Garry and I were at Shafers with Don playing games.  We did toast one another at midnight, but kept right on playing Puerto Rico.  We got home at 1:30 and Tanner still wasn't home!
About a month ago, I had dusted all the ceiling fans. I couldn't reach the main one in the family room.  So Garry jerryrigged a contraption that allowed him to reach it.  Now it looks so much better when you look down on it from upstairs.
Back to the NERF story...Taz convinced Cynjyn and Becca to buy new guns.  He then told him it wouldn't hurt to get shot.  So he had C shoot him and
immediatly took off running when he realized that he could feel it!
Cynj and Becca were ready to play.  They are very serious about their NERF wars.
Taz had a group of friends over and they were ready to begin.  They played at night after it got dark, they had about 150 bullets.  They turned off all the lights and one team was guarding a base and the other team had to get the base.
Cynjyn liked it so much a few days later, she invited some of her friends over and they had a NERF war.
And this is what it looks like the morning after!  Garry and I are banned to the bedroom during these NERF wars.  They sure loved doing them and actually cleaned up after themselves though it has been about a month now and I'm still finding random bullets here and there!
