Track Break Project

Taz's finished project. We kept this one and ate it.

Cynjyn's finished project. We gave this one to our neighbors, the Hopkins.

O.K. Here's where it starts. Cynjyn and Taz wanted to decorate a cake. So they picked out a pan from my stash and we baked the cakes the day before. Then the next day they colored their frosting and decorated there cakes. When I uploaded the last three pictures, they came out first and I don't know how to change it.

Track Break Shenanigans

One day during track break, Taz and Cynjyn had a multitude of friends over and Taz got the bright idea that he would show them an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well, I thought they looked so cute on the couch together, sharing a blanket, eating popcorn, so I took a picture. Coming back through the living room, I still had camera in hand and saw them all looking a little different during the scary part of the show!! Cynjyn and Sydney were supposed to be protecting Emma, NOT!! Even Taz who has seen the episode before thinks he's safely tucked under his shirt. Shae, Lawson and Sean haven't moved much!!

Last of La Jolla

As I stated earlier, it was quite cold. We ended up buying Tanner and Cynjyn wet shirts (Taz already had one), plus he had a towel. This is the same rock T and C were on in the earlier post.

The wet shirts!

The aforementioned "sand blanket"

Taz trying to run from one end of the beach to the other without getting hit by the tide! Did I mention the price of things? Hotel Marriot: $179.00/night (there two nights). Gas: $3.40 in Vegas, $3.69 in CA. Meals...blah, blah, blah, Snacks for the team...blah, blah blah!!

More La Jolla

Cynjyn loved making sand angels. As a matter of fact, her and Taz were so cold the first night that they begged to be buried in the sand just to warm themselves up!

Daredevil Taz found a rock that was getting hit by waves a lot, so he stood there and made me stand with my camera poised, ready to take a picture just as the wave got him!

Tanner and I are obsessed with a Wii game called Sim's Island. We have both beat the game, so when we got to the beach and found a shelter and a Tiki torch, of course we had to take a picture under it. You would understand this reference only if you are familiar with the game:)

Here is Cynjyn on the same rock when the tide is much calmer!

La Jolla Tournament

Our trip to La Jolla for Talon's tournament was fun. We left at 7:00 am Friday morning and got there around 11:30. We went to the motel and checked in and went right to the Beach. The first beach we went to was Shell beach and there were shells everywhere. Cynjyn was in Heaven!! There were also a lot of tide pools and this beach and Taz was able to see tons of hermit crabs (he loves them!!). In the motel, Tanner and Cynjyn slept in one queen size bed, Garry and I in the other and Taz was on an air mattress inbetween the beds. We were exhausted and fell right to sleep that first night. The next day, we went to Seal beach and watched the Seals, they were so cute and even saw some pups. Then we went to a beach by Talon's motel and the kids loved that. Taz got to Boogie Board, and we just hung out there all evening Saturday and all day the next day. We left La Jolla around 3:00 and got home around 8:00. Expensive, quick but worth it all for the enjoyment the kids had at the cold, windy beach.

Freedom to ride

One afternoon, my not so brave Cynjyn (she really is a chicken at trying new things) came up to us and told us she was ready to take her training wheels off her bike. So we took the opportunity and she learned to ride her bike. She spent about 2 hours doing it and had a lot of bruises on her legs the next day. She's still a little leary about turns and she hasn't learned to start on her own, but all in all, she did pretty good.

Injuries

Talon has been plagued with injuries this year in volleyball. He pulled all the muscels in his lower back diving for a ball and running into the pole. Here he is attempting to feel better using the antigravity chair. He went to the La Jolla tournament and he and Trevik were both diving for the same ball and Trevik kicked him in the head and the impact bammed his head into the floor and he hit the top of his head and it knocked him out for about 40 seconds. He had a killer headache for a few days and couldn't play the rest of the tournament because he was seeing double and feeling very woosy. Not a very fun Senior year in volleyball so far.

Rainbow connection

Right before Cynjyn went on track break, her class put on a play about weather. She was a rainbow dancer and the yellow part of the rainbow. We could decorate her hair any way we wanted with lots of yellow in it, so we had fun doing that. She was a LOVELY dancer, we were very proud of her.

Easter?!?

I know it's been awhile since I posted and I'm going to be doing some pictures from a month ago. For some reason, a new photo program got installed on our computer and I couldn't download my camera stuff on my Kodak Easyshare. I finally figured out how to download it, so I'm updating with pix and info...a little late, but it still happened.
Easter was very low-key as I was sick and had been sick since the Thursday before. We didn't color or hide eggs~ a first for us!! We didn't even go to church because I was sick, so my heather family opted to stay home with me and "keep me company"! Here is Taz in his new PJ's and Cynjyn in a new summer Easter dress. Tanner got sunglasses and some Lego's and Talon got his gym membership renewed and paid for by us.

Ceramics Class

Talon really is quite an artist. He is taking a second year ceramics class and is quite good. They had to do a lifesize bust of themselves and this is the project complete and ready to be fired. He enjoys the class even though he says his teacher is a kook!!

Tanner is officially braces free!! the ortho office gave him a whole jar filled with chewy, hard candy to celebrate with!!
