It's the little things!

Fun things have been happening around here and I want them documented.  I took Cynjyn to work with me in April.  It is probably the last time that will happen because I don't think the High School really participates in that much. As first counselor in the Stake Primary, I was asked by my president to put on a Primary Chorister workshop.  I did and we had 5 of the 10 wards send their choristers for the training.  I think it went well and I received positive feed back from the ladies in attendance.
Garry did a lot of yard work this spring.  He removed all the ugly bushes on our side yard and replaced them with very aesthetic looking plants. He had to use the Suburban and a tow rope to remove the bushes by their roots.  Taz had a great time helping him by driving the Suburban.

With Tanner being home, we do a lot more game playing.  Somehow they suckered Cynjyn into playing with them one day,.  I don't know how that happened.  We got tickets to the Duck Commander Musical which is the story of Duck Dynasty for free.  Cynjyn and Taz were supposed to bring friends.  Taz was going to bring Brynna, but it was her birthday that night and she was going out with her family and Cynjyn's friends all fell through, so we brought Lawson with us as the last minute.  It was good, even though Lawson was the only one that watched the show regularly.  We went to Cane's for Dinner afterwards.  And it just happened to be Garry's birthday that day, so it was fun to celebrate with something different.

We had gone to China Town to get some stuff for a dinner I wanted to try and Garry saw a bunch of candy and goodies he had eaten as a child.  So we bought some and tried them all out for FHE treats one night.  Tanner is eating the sesame cookie.  And below is our spread.  Rock candy, spiced ginger, dried candied plums and sesame and peanut cookies and cakes.  We all decided to stick to our favorite goodies and Garry says they aren't as good as he remembers.
I love catching little snipets of real life.  This was a shot I got during nightly scripture study.
With Tanner being home, Cynjyn put him to work right away on a project for her.  She wants to be Harley Quinn for Halloween this year and enlisted Tanner to make her costume.  She is going with a corset top and so Tanner used Duct Tape to make a pattern with.  It has now become their summer project.

Cynjyn hosted mutual one night here at the house.  They all teamed up and made a scripture themed cake.  Cynj and I had made the cakes the weekend before and everyone had brought frosting.  Emma and Amelia did a knowledge cake with a light bulb.
Danielle and Sister Kinet did a cow cake so the girls could remember that they are 8 cow worthy.
And Cynjyn and Maggie did a commandments cake.

Then one Saturday afternoon Emma and Danielle came over to watch the HKA productions that Danielle and Cynjyn had been the stars in.  Aladdin and Little Mermaid.
Tanner, Talon and I went to lunch one day. Talon had had a few day's off from work and wanted to do something on his time off so he invited us to lunch.  We coached Tanner on getting jobs.
Taz found out that he made all region first team for volleyball. This was quite an honor because 4 Silverado boys were nominated and Taz was the only one to make first team.  All the others made second team.  It is an honor because all the coaches in our division submit players names and then the coaches all vote on the boys.  So that means the other coaches in our division were impressed with Taz and his playing skills.
Here he is with Taylor his assistant coach and Paul and Cody and Sam the head coach after receiving the award.

Mother's day weekend found us making a quick trip to Prescott Arizona for Trey's graduation from Yavapai college.  He received his Associates Degree and will be going to Texas Tech in the fall for his bachelors.  It was fun meeting up with Rob and Jodi and mom and dad for the weekend.
We stopped through Grand Canyon on our way back because Rob and Jodi and Mom and Dad had never been before.  We only met them at the geology center and then headed back home because we had to get ready for my recital the next day.  But we got a few pictures.  Just as we were leaving a group of Monks walked by and we couldn't resist snapping a picture of them.  The people you see at Grand Canyon are just as interesting as the views.  And wouldn't you know it but I forgot my selfie stick, so luckily we had Tanner and his long arms.

Cynjyn had her year end Pasta and Tunes jazz band night.  This year it was catered by Carraba's and it was super delicious.  We were thrilled that they repeated their Thriller number and dance since last fall when they did it we only had our phones and the video didn't transfer well to the computer.  It is always a fun night and Cynjyn has learned so much by doing it.  She's actually become quite the piano player now.

Cynjyn had a big last project in geology on an Asian country.  She chose China and wanted a kimono.  We told her kimono's were Japanese, but we could do a hanfu which was chinese.  So once again we enlisted Tanner's help. Cynjyn came up with the concept on how to do it and I bought some Asian looking sheets and a hanfu was created.
The sleeve is the most important part and Tanner had her standing with her arms out for so long that she needed a stick to help hold them up and by the time the night was over her feet hurt.  But that was a small price to pay for the final outcome.
I bought some beads and tassels and dowels to come up with her head gear.
She looked great after it was all said and done.

Hopefully she got an A on the project.  We love projects especially when they turn out like we envisioned.
