NAM

Cynjyn decided that she wanted to participate in a pageant. She signed up to do NAM (National American Miss). The pageant was in Arizona at the end of July. Garry and I went to support her. It was all about the food and the competition. We ate at places that were featured on Dine in's dumps and dives. The first place was a rib place. It was good, but we all decided we aren't big BBQ fans, so it wasn't the best we'd ever had. We tried a burger place one night and it had weird but good burgers. We all enjoyed it.

In the mean time, Cynjyn was doing the pageant stuff. One of the competitions was evening wear. She had a gown we'd gotten off Amazon and it was beautiful on her. She had to have an escort and Eric was her choice. We thought she did an amazing job and looked confident and beautiful. Another competition was introduction and interview. She had 30 seconds to introduce herself.  This is what she said: "Wonder Woman, Captain marvel, Super Girl. You don't need superpowers to change the world. All you need is a whiteboard and love. This fall I'll be attending UNLV to become an Elementary teacher. till then I'll continue to serve my community through service projects and master my passions of writing. Coming to you from Las Vegas, I am Cynjyn Goon." She did excellent on this and looked very calm and composed. After the introductions they had one on one personal interviews with the judges.

Garry and I tried an Italian place while Cynjyn was at a rehearsal. It was yummy. The final night was the rest of the competition where they walked in and had a final dance number and walked across the stage one last time. She ended up getting second runner up...third place. They do a top five. She did such a great job and we were very proud of her. She wanted to prove that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars and a life time to do well in the competition and she did indeed prove that!

These are the professional photos we paid for: She won an individual trophy for best resume.

This was her final score:

From your magazines you know that there were four categories of judging.  10% of your score came from the Book or School Supply you donated. The new State Queen will be taking them to a charity of her choice on your behalf. The remaining three categories, which are shown above, each counted for 30% of your total raw score. Each overall judge scored your individally for each overall category. The average of these scores for each category are shown in the column "Your 2019 Score." The highest score earned by a contestant in your age group is also shown for each category. Also, the score ranges for all contestants in your age group is shown.
Cynjyn, we look forward to seeing you next year! Be on the lookout for your 2020 State Pageant invitation this Fall!
Sincerely, Breanne Ewing - State Director
