Birthday Cruise: Galveston Tours

February 21, 2020:

We arrived in Houston on February 21. Cynjyn took us to the airport at 3 am. We rented a car and drove to Galveston.  We had arranged to do a few tours.  We started at the Bishop's Palace.  It was built in 1887-1893 for lawyer and politician Walter Gresham, his wife Josephine, and their nine children. It was a self guided tour, so we were able to take our time and take a lot of photos. We enjoyed the castle we went to in Canada better, but this was pretty cool because it was just a regular house/mansion. I like to take photos of us standing and they had some beautiful floors to make my day! They had a worship room there too. It had some gorgeous stained glass windows. The house was lovely.

We then went down to the Pier. It was cold and windy, but nice to walk along the beach and collect sea shells. We also drove basically from one side of Galveston to the other following the beach line.

We then went and hung out at the library because we were tired and had some time to kill before our next tour. We rested and read magazines. Then we started a ghost tour just as it was getting dark.  We met right by the library and it was a walking tour. It was only us and the tour guide. He looked really weird, skinny, terrible teeth and just weird. But the tour was fascinating and we walked about 3 square blocks. We would stop at various houses and he would tell us why they might be haunted. We finished after dark and drove back to Houston.
