Relay for Life

May 5th was Relay for Life. Every year the band sponsors a team.  This year they were Lance's Ohona.  The event is held at Silverado from 6:00pm-6:00am.  This year they were having a difficult time finding chaperones.  So Cynjyn's friend Vanessa who was in charge asked her if Garry and I might be willing to do it.  We said sure.  All we had to do was sit with them at their designated place on the field and stay up all night!  No problem...
They get a little crazy and have decorations and costumes.  They kept with the Hawaiian theme with the leis and sea shells.
They bring a lot of food and  such to keep them awake all night.

The organizer's have somewhat decorated the stadium with cups stuck into the fence spelling out words.
It was a beautiful night and pretty cool being there for the sunset.

Garry and I made it a goal to walk a mile every hour.  We started out strong.

We got to see the sun rise too!

We did it! 44 laps...11 miles.  Garry had the foresight to bring our clicker to keep track.  It was tough around 3 am I got super tired, but we perservered!
Needless to say, 5:45am came and we were ready to go home! But I'm grateful we were able to help out the band kids and spend some time together.
