Food for August

We are still socially isolating. But our one pleasure is our bimonthly D and D game with the Osburns. We usually both bring some sort of snack. Sometimes we go big and sometimes we don't. This night, we had three different salsa's, regular, mango and a fruit salsa that you dipped homemade cinnamon chips in. It was a great play that time (it always is). Cynjyn had been hinting about an ice cream cake for a long time. So I decided to surprise her with one for one of you Sunday dinner desserts. I made a chocolate cake with a vanilla ice cream and Oreo's on top and a buttery Oreo filling in the middle. Everyone really liked it and it was fun to make. It looks elegant but it's super easy. Garry found the recipe for me. We bought a head of Cauliflower at Sam's one week and when I went to cut it, I just had to take a photo because it was bigger than my head! Cynjyn bought this cool bowl at her Ramen place she goes to and has been eating everything in it. It's pretty big, so she had a lot of cereal one morning. I made three peanut butter ice cream pies for Taz's birthday! Every Friday has now become Taco Bell/Mc Donald's night so we get it a lot. But Garry and I still had to have Taco Bell on our anniversary. It's become a little tradition now! One of our D and D nights involved a festival that we were going to. So we made festival food for that play. We did tator tot, cheese, bacon skewers, homemade pretzels and pigs in a blanket and caramel corn. Osburns brought fruit skewers and dip, homemade apple fritters and pork nachos. That was some good food! And Garry has been into burgers lately and has tried many a different kind. This was a replica of the road kill grill at Texas Roadhouse. We ate it as a bunless burger and it was super yummy!
