May the odds be ever in your favor

Cynjyn decided to have a Hunger Games birthday party theme this year.  We were all excited to plan it since we are all fans here.  Garry helped assemble the party favor bag the night before.  I was making labels for the stuff.
I found a doable cake on Pinterest to make this year, so we got busy on that the night before.
Cynjyn and Garry were excited to help with that.
The party favors were sleep syrup (Orange Pineapple juice) pop rocks, slim jim's atomic fireballs, cheese and crackers and deadly berry fruit snacks.
Effie made a visit at the last minute.  Mikel was going to be her but had to work.  So we found that out about an hour before the party started, so we were just going to bag it.
Then Cynjyn said "mom, all my friends asked if you were going to dress up as Effie?"  So I made Cynjyn do my hair and makeup and pick out an outfit for me.  She said sadly mom, it looks like something you wear everyday.  (She doesn't like my colorful wardrobe.  I loved the lips!)
This is the finished cake.  It is a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  Then we lined the sides and into the top with chocolate rocks.  We then put some Pirouett cookies in a star shape for the logs.  I melted cinnamon and butterscotch disks in the oven on a Silpat and then after they cooled, we broke them into pieces for the flames.  We sprinkled some boston baked beans in the center for embers and Garry made an arrow out of a skewer and laffy taffy we softened in the microwave.  It turned out just like it should have and all the kids were impressed.
We had some pictures printed of the contestants of the real HG on the island for decoration.
The dinner was sleep syrup (raspberry Crystal light and Gingerale)
Meat chunks (lil Smokies), fire sticks (Flaming hot limon cheetos), Deadly Night lock Berries (blackberries), Peeta bread (rolls)
Fish snacks (a specialty from district 4 (goldfish) Vegetables a specialty from district 11, District 12 bread (ritz) and Prim's goat cheese (Colby chunked cheese)

We started the party by Effie greeting them at the door and leading them to the Island where they figured out their Hunger Game name.  Then they took a Hunger Games quiz when they were done.  That was going on until everyone arrived.

Find your hunger games name:
1.  Write down the second syllable of your middle name.
If you do not have a middle name, you should use the second syllable of your first name.  If your middle name is only one syllable, you may use the second syllable of your last name.  If neither name has more than one syllable, you may use any syllable you like from TIki-Tiki-Tembo-No-Sa-Rembo-Chari-Beri-Ruchi-Pip-Perry-Pembo
2.  Write down the name of a plant
3.  If you are a female with a birthday Jan-June write down the word “Less”.  If you are a female with a birthday July-Dec. write down the word “Petra”.  If you are a male with a birthday Jan-June write down the word “el”.  If you are a male with a birthday July-Dec. write down the word “met”.
4.  Write down the first initial of the last name of your favorite English teacher from school.
5.  Write down a simple action verb (ie: jump, run etc.)
Now get your results:
Combine the answer from #1 with the answer from #3.  This is your first name
Your middle initial is the answer to #4
Your last name is the answer to #5 with your answer to #2 added to the end

Then they went into training for the games.  The first game was testing their memory.  We scattered candy bars on the ottoman and everyone had a paper sack.  They rolled the dice and if they got a 1 or 2 they could choose a candy and put it in their bag.  If they rolled a 3 they could steal someone's candy as long as they could identify correctly who had it.  If two six's in a row were rolled, they rotated the bags to the left.  We played until all the candy was gone and then for 3 more minutes counting only 3 and 6's.
The second game was Hunter Eyes.  They all stood around in a circle with their arms linked over each others shoulders.  They bowed their heads and closed their eyes and on the count of three they had to look up and lock eyes on one person.  If they had eye contact, they were both "dead" and you played until their were only two left in the circle.
We then took them out and did an obstacle course.  They went two at a time.  They went under and then over PVC pipe them crossed a bridge and had to pick up a cup of ping pong balls half way over.

Then they had to do 10 hoops with the Hula Hoop

Then they had to spin around a bat 10 times and run to this tree and throw the ping pong balls until they got one in the basket in the tree and then run back to start.

We played the stick game which we played at Taz's last party.
Then we had a tracker jacker game where we gave them all those colored sticky dots and let them chase each other with them trying to stick them on each other for a certain amount of time.
When the time was up, whoever had the least amount of dots was the "winner".
Then we paired them up and did a battle tournament style.  We gave them a plastic spoon and an orange and they had to try to knock the other person's orange off first.
We were then finally ready for the Hunger Games and the Cornucopia.  We had them put flags from flag football around their waist to begin.  Garry filled our papasan chair with "weapons", pool noodles and punch balls and rain coats and they paced off 10 feet from around the cornucopia and the HG began.  The last one with a flag left was the winner.

There were only three boys at the party, so the girls ganged up on them and eliminated them first.  At the end, Becca was the last one with flags and was delcared the winner.  Raejean came in second and they each got a little HG prize (a key chain for R and a bracelet for B).

It was a great party and everyone had fun.  We started at 2:30 and the last people left around 11:00.  After the games, we went in and ate and opened presents.  Then they played a few games of couch of power and then they did Just Dance 2015 and visited the rest of the evening.

Happy fourteenth birthday to an amazing daughter!!
