January was my turn to host our book club. Once a year we like to do a coed book club and pick a book we think our husbands will like. This year, we picked Ready Player One. The movie is coming out in March and we like to go to the movies of the books we read with our husbands. Usually they can be deemed "chick flicks" and we drag our hubbies to dinner and the movie, but his one we will all enjoy! The book has a ton of 80's references and so we were the perfect ones to host it. Unfortunately, I had read the book over a year ago, but Garry had just finished it in December, so it was fresh in his head. He enjoyed gathering the decor from the 80's. A lot of it was D and D related and he had some of the modules and games mentioned in the book. We bought and played Monty Python and the Holy Grail and War Games with the sound off throughout book club. We also bought a retro Atari game system to have one of the video games going on. We had given away our old Atari a few years ago! Garry made a miniature Pac Man video game. We buried a guitar in stone and had some signs on the front door. Cereal was mentioned a lot, specific kinds in the book, so we had a cereal bar and a DIY pizza bar since they order a lot of pizza in the book. It was a fun night and as usual, just as fun preparing for it as hosting it.
