This n that

Yesterday, my big project of the day was to clean out our closet. I can't believe I forgot to take before pictures, but if you remember my piles of shame post, that is kind of the before. Plus, the main people who read my blog are family and most of them have seen the before!! Here is the closet after. I worked hard for about 2 hours and then was done. We can at least walk into it better and have a little room to get dressed.

Sunday morning I woke up to find this in the kitchen sink. Cynjyn LOVES her bath time and apparently that has rubbed off on Barbie too.

We are in the throes of Spirit Week at Silverado High school. It is Disney week. The first day was Sleeping Beauty, which was basically Pajama day and I forget to get a picture of Tanner in his regular, boring grey pj's. The next day was Disney hat day and low and behold, we just happened to have a brand spanking new Mad Hatter Hat for him to wear!

Thursday will be twin day and Amanda texted him and asked if he wanted to be her twin, he said yes, so they went to WM yesterday and bought supplies and spent all afternoon and evening (Amanda and I took a break and went to YW's there was no YM's) and I finally took her home at 10:00 when the matching shirts were done and drying!
They ironed on the words: My twin Amanda, My twin Tanner on the backs of the shirts. Then they layed them together and put on a giant star with puff paint.

After mutual, they took them outside and splatter painted them.

They added a few twinkles with colored puff paint, and wrote "Amazing stars" on the front. Now they are happily drying here waiting for Thursday!

Today is Disney Pirate day, so of course Jack Sparrow was calling Tanner's name!!

He didn't want to do the famous eyes because the face paint bother's his face during the day, so he opted for the more famous look.

I think he could pass as Jack Sparrow's stunt double!! What do you think?
Last night, we made glitter temples at YW's. It was fun and I LOVE me some sparkle!!

I think I'll frame it and give it to Cynjyn for her room.

This weekend we...

Yes, I do have a fourth child. Talon is still here, we see him everyday and he is part of our lives, he is just always at work, or school. So, I don't blog much about him. But, he did have an exciting day yesterday. He subbed on his friends semi-pro tackle football team. He hasn't played tackle since his Jr. year in High School. He was excited to play. Anyway, apparently, he got two interceptions and had a really good game. There was a guy at the game from the Arena football leagues. He came up to Talon after the game and asked him if he was in college. Talon said yes. He then asked him who he played for and he said he didn't play college ball. The man told him he was sure he could have gotten a scholarship to a small college and played ball. He then took his name and number and said he wanted Talon to try out for the Arena football league next time tryouts came up and he'd be sure to call him and let him know when that was. So, needless to say, Talon was very excited!!

Friday, Tanner was invited to a bday party. Amanda needed a ride and a place to hang out till the party started, so she came over about 6 and I took them to the party at 7. They looked so comfy and had very similar poses watching TV waiting for the party to start!

See, further proof Talon and Tiffany are still here. They missed dinner Friday with the family, so here they are eating leftovers. I just needed a picture because they are so cute!

Taz had a game at 9:10 Saturday morning. His team won 8 touchdowns to three. Taz scored 4 of the eight touchdowns!! He was the football king for the day.

Saturday proved to be a busy day. We had a little adventure during the day (details forthcoming). Then Taz wanted to invite some boys over to play Halo Reach. They had all been invited to a bday party for a girl in our ward, so they all came over at 3 and then went to the party together at 7. They took a break from video games to watch a little football and also to play some capture the flag!

As for our little adventure, we went to the Springs Preserve for the Asian Moon Festival. We'd never been to the preserve before. Usually you have to pay to get in, but this was free. It was a hot, hot day. Getting in to the triple digits where as it had only been in the mid 90's all week:(

But we had a fun time. We watched one of the performances which was a Japanese Taiko drum group.

They were entertaining and did three songs. But boy was it hot in the blaring sun.

We explored a little and Tanner found this mister place and happily pushed the button so the kids could cool off.

There was stuff to play on,

and exhibits to see. It was fun in spite of the heat.

The bday party that Taz was invited to was a Mad Hatter party and everyone was supposed to wear a "Mad" hat. So Garry woke up and asked Taz if he would wear a Johnny Depp Mad Hatter hat if he made it for him. Taz said of course, so we went to Joann's after the game and got some supplies. He started with a chicken wire frame,

after a lot of sniping and piecing, it looked like this.

Then he covered it in duct tape to give it a little more stability,

he then covered it in the fabric with the sash.

Added the feathers and homemade hat pins,

and ta da...the finished product modeled by our own Cynjyn! How do you think it compares to the original? We all loved it and thought Garry did an awesome job.

Taz happily wore it to the party and is now wanting to be the Mad Hatter for Halloween! Woohoo!!

Hope you all had a good weekend too!

Another Halloween project

First, Cynjyn got braces on the top teeth. If it's like Taz, she won't have to wear them for long, but she does have to have 4 teeth pulled and her gums cut and some chains put on to pull two permanant teeth in that are coming in crooked. She is actually happy about the braces, but scared about the teeth "surgery". This is the other project we worked on Sunday. Tanner and Cynjyn painted the words and glittered them. I just finished today putting them on the frames and gluing the little spider tags and google eyes on.
The little tags are stickers that I thought were so cute, so I mounted them on the leftover strips of background paper that I put in the frames.

The wiggle eyes are leftover from the mummies and I thought they were cuter than buttons.

This one, I put the eyes on the middle O and a bow on the side. They are easy and cute. The wood letters are glued to the outside of the frame.

Fall is in the air!

I made these yummy, decadent treats on Friday to take up to Mt. Charleston for our ward bbq/picnic on Saturday. They were delicious! Easy peasy too: Dip nutter butters in chocolate (I used almond bark) and then cut a reeses peanut butter cup in half and stick it on top before it hardens. Ohhhh, so good! I did take my camera to the ward bbq, but only took this picture of Garry and Tanner because they match so good!! Taz and Cynjyn were off with friends most of the time, so I didn't track them down to get any pictures.
I made Garry take one of me and my girls!! Karen and Toni, I talked to them most of the evening. It was so nice up there and we all loved getting away from the heat. We resisted putting jackets on until absolutly neccessary, then as soon as dusk hit, out they came!! But I'm so not complaining. LOVED IT!

Sunday, the kids and I did a halloween craft we found on a blog: tutorial it was easy and so stinkin cute!!

They painted,

and chose google eyes and I wrapped them with the hot glue gun.

We didn't even distress them. We decided to add bows to the girls and yes, our family is girl heavy, after all they are MUMMIES;)

Cynjyn's favorite was the baby.

The finished family!

A few weeks ago, I had found some vases, (the smaller ones at the $ store, and the big one in the back at Home Goods). I filled most of them with candy and the one with autumn colored "gems" and acorns (from WM). I got the candle holder from HG and found the little flower thing at WM. I got the little "towel holder" at HG and printed up a 6x8 scrapbook page of a few past Halloween pictures to hang on it and created this little scene on my extra table. I got the ideas and inspiration here.

I added my mummy family last night and wala, it now feels like fall! I may not even get out my old decorations this year. I'm liking the simpleness so far. We did do one other craft, but it's not quite done. I'll post when I finish it.
